The one we no longer expect

Behold, he is coming with the clouds. And every eye will see him, even those who pierced him ; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of him. Revelation 1.7

Shock ! During a television program, a lady recognizes her sister whom she thought died during the war : “Yes ! It's her ! This one, through the show, was trying to find some French relatives from the depths of Russia. Emotions, joy, tears too... What a desire to bridge half a century of separation !

When John, the apostle, is on the Isle of Patmos, it has been about sixty years since Jesus ascended to heaven. Behold, it appears to him : I was dead and, behold, I am alive (Revelation 1:18).

It was : Our calendar proves it. Jesus lived on earth, he taught, he was arrested, condemned, then put to death on a cross...

He is alive : “Jesus Christ alive ? You do not belive it ! Where is he ? No one sees it ; and if he is alive, why does he not manifest himself... ? And yet : transformed lives testify to it, his answers to the prayers of his own proclaim it. Yes, Jesus lives today with God his Father until the time of the end.

He is coming : John did not doubt for a moment that his Lord is alive. Yet he was overwhelmed by her appearance.

Will it not be an even bigger shock when Jesus returns as he said he would, and we are all gathered before him ?
