The passage of the witness

"Therefore, my child, strengthen yourself in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust it to faithful men who are able in their turn to instruct others." 2 Timothy 2: 1, 2

Use the 4 x 100 m relay as an example of a control pass. The witness must be transmitted in an area of ​​20 meters, preceded by a 10 meter elk area for the receiver. The witness must be exchanged only in the transmission zone ; and the validity of the transfer is judged on the position occupied by the witness, and not the riders, in relation to the verticals of the zone of the beginning and end of the zone.

Whatever the transmission technique of the witness, the witness must be literally "snatched" with conviction by the torchbearer. If it falls during transmission it is up to the torchbearer to pick it up.

Paul considered the Christian life as a race (Phil 3:14) and the history of the Church as a relay race.

Of course, if everything is played in less than 2 seconds in the passage zone of 20 m, the transmission of witness is much longer in the spiritual relay !

In the verse of the day there are four relays : the Apostle Paul, Timothy, faithful men, and others.

When Paul, the first runner, arrives at Derbe and Lystra, he meets Timothy and asks him to accompany him for missionary service. Timothy had already gained momentum : the brothers at Lystra and Iconium testified about it (Act 16. 2).

Afterward, Paul will assign important tasks to Timothy, his spiritual son. While Timothy is in Ephesus, Paul encourages him to focus on the public reading of the scriptures, exhortation, teaching, and also to make it his way of life (1 Tim 4: 13-16 ). In his second letter, he exhorts him to entrust the teaching received to faithful men, so that, in their turn, they will be able to instruct others... us today ! (verses of the day). In each generation, God has added new links to this spiritual chain.

We are all called to be relayers: we receive, we advance, we transmit !
