The path of the trust

"Blessed is the man who has trusted in the LORD, and has not turned to the proud and those who turn to falsehood." Psalm 40. 4

For many men and women, life is full of difficulties. While they were full of hope, they are beset by all kinds of worries, disappointments or hardships. They have no respite and do not know how to react. For one, life is too heavy a burden: it lets itself fall down and falls into depression. The other, on the contrary, tries to escape from his problems by searching every day the distractions that the world offers him. What is the right reaction ? To be defeated or to flee are not real solutions. We must look elsewhere.

To get out of problems that may seem inextricable, there is only one way, the path of trust in God. Life is not always as we would have wished when our desires do not come true. The path of trust is to understand that our life is in the hands of God, even when we reap what we have sown. It is not made of a sum of chances, chances or misfortunes, but of the divine will which we simply and peacefully must accept.

Trials are inseparable from life on earth, but our Father never extends them beyond the necessary time or beyond a bearable intensity. God did not create man for a few years to pass on the earth, but for eternity. This is why Paul believed that "the sufferings of the present are not worthy of comparison with the future glory to be revealed to us" (Rom.8: 18).

The path of trust in God gives us peace because it directs our gaze towards the heavenly goal. We experience that we are not alone. "I am with you" : this promise, God made it in various circumstances to many servants (see Gen. 28. 15, Jos. 1. 5, Judgment 6. 12, Jer.1.8). And before leaving this earth, the Lord left this same promise to his disciples : "I am with you every day". It has been fulfilled for twenty centuries and will remain "until the end of the age" (Matt 28. 20).

True happiness and the fulfillment of a life result only from trust in God. He loves us !
