The patience to wait for the promise

The well-known parable of the sower speaks of patience. No patience with people, but patience with God. You remember Jesus talking about the seed, is not it ? Grains fell on the side of the road, others on pebbles, others among thorns ... and others fell on good soil. Let's look at the explanation of Jesus.

"Now this is the parable, the seed is the word of God; and those along the way are those who hear the word ; Then comes the devil, and takes away their words from their hearts, lest, believing, they should be saved. And those who are on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy ; and these have no root, they only believe for a time, and at the time of temptation they retire. And what has fallen in the thorns are those who, having heard the word and gone away, are stifled by the cares and the riches and pleasures of life, and they bear no fruit to maturity. But what is in the good earth are those who, having heard the word, hold it in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience" (Luke 8: 11-15 Darby version).

The "good earth" of which Jesus speaks speaks of those who hear the Word and bear fruit "with patience." Others carry a little fruit, too, but only for a time. Why ? Because they are impatient with the Lord and His work in their lives.

The heart of one who hears with "a good earth" tends to one direction ! In all circumstances, it is directed first to the love of God, then to a patient expectation of Jesus Christ. These two characteristics are necessary for a heart to produce fruit in the long term. We read in Hebrews that "for you need patience, that, having done the will of God, you should receive the promised things" (10:36).

Take the Word of God and hold it in your heart. Let her produce a pure and honest heart and then wait patiently for Him to bring you deliverance.
