The point where we do nothing

In John 2, Jesus and His disciples were invited to a wedding dinner in the city of Cana.

Three days later there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus was also invited to the wedding with his disciples. The wine having failed, the mother of Jesus said to him : "They have no more wine." Jesus answered him, "Woman, what is there between you and me ? My hour has not yet come" (John 2: 1-4).

Obviously, the Lord's family received the invitation as well, since the mother of Jesus was there. Mary even came to see him with a request : "They have no more wine."

Jesus response to His mother seems a little strange. He said : "My hour has not yet come."

What was the "hour" Jesus was referring to ? He did not speak of the moment of darkness He would confront three years later, just advance his crucifixion. At that time, Jesus actually said : "My hour has come."

But here in Cana, He was talking about a different time. The fact is that the ministry of Christ was just beginning. This is what he was referring to when He told His mother that His hour was yet to come. Indeed, shortly after, He performed a miracle by changing six large vases of water into wine.

Let me ask you : have you wondered why Jesus waited to do this miracle ? He waited until all the bottles, all the glasses, were empty - even though the host was twisting his hands with anxiety.

I tell you, Jesus waited on purpose for this marriage that all human resources failed. He waited until nothing could solve the problem except a miracle. It was then that the hour of God came.

This is an important truth for all Christians : the hour when the power of Christ manifests comes at a time when we can do nothing.
