The power of forgiveness goes beyond divine amnesty. When God forgives us, he not only forgets the sins we have confessed to him, but also communicates to us the ability to overcome sin. The forgiveness of sins is also the deliverance of the power of sin.

The forgiveness of God overthrows the wall of separation. That we need God's forgiveness is an unavoidable evidence, for we are all sinners : "For all have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God." Romans 3:23. Then, that God forgets our sins, as the Bible says, it is already a great grace : "Because I will forgive their iniquities, and I will not remember their sins again." Hebrews 8:12 But forgiveness goes further , He communicates to us the power to overcome the power of sin.Jesus has not only come to offer us, by his sacrifice, the amnesty of our past faults, but above all, to deliver us from the power of sin.

Being freed from the power of sin, divine forgiveness allows us to have great freedom. We have free access to the presence of God. Forgiveness of God overthrows the wall of separation : "No, the hand of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too hard to hear, but it is your crimes that put a separation between you and your God It is your sins that hide his face from you, and prevent him from listening to you "(Isaiah 59: 1-2). When divine forgiveness is received, it divides this separation into pieces. What power !

Since forgiveness leads us to victory over sin, and opens the door to the divine presence, there is no more room for the accuser. God's forgiveness, by freeing us from the fear of judgment, allows us to have a positive view of God and of men.

Having ourselves experienced the liberating power of forgiveness, we believe that forgiveness is more powerful, than all the abuse of the world, to change the lives of wounded sinners. The sinful woman, brought to Jesus' feet by the Jews who wanted to stone her, received an extraordinary, liberating force through the forgiveness that Jesus granted her.

Advice for today

You are no longer under condemnation, but you are free in Jesus. Do not let yourself be bound by the guilty and lying words of the devil. Receive God's forgiveness. This forgiveness being received, you will be able to experience the liberating power it brings.
