The pyramid of needs

A psychologist named Abraham Maslow was interested in the needs of individuals in general. He even sought to prioritize these needs by inserting them into a pyramid that bears his name. Each of the floors of this pyramid corresponds to the different levels of aspiration of modern man.

In order of importance, we find the needs :

. physiological (water, food, breathing...)

. security (health, employment, morality, family, material goods...)

. of love and belonging (exchange, friendship, family, sexuality...)

. of recognition (regard of others, respect, consideration...)

. to be realized (feeling of success and accomplishment, prestige...)

In communication, taking into account the needs of the interlocutor is a way to recognize it, to give it importance. One can not evangelize and ignore the universe of the other.

Jesus did not only preach the Gospel in the open air. He also had talks and discussions with some people. He was interested in their universe. Jesus manifested feelings of humanity among humans :

. Contact with a rich young man (Mark 10: 17-22)

. The interview at night, away, in a desert place with a religious leader named Nicodemus (John 3: 1-13)

. The interview in the middle of the village of Sychar, near the well, with a woman of Samaritan origin (John 4: 4-42)

. Home Care for Zacchaeus, Tax Collector (Luke 19: 1-10)

. Dialogue with a paralytic (John 5: 5-9)

. Dialogue with an adulteress (John 8: 1-11)

. The dialogue with the robber on the cross (Luke 23: 39-43)

. He fed the hungry crowd (Mark 8: 1-9)
