The reach the prayer of the faith

How to reach the state of mind that enables us to offer the prayer of faith ? "How to offer this prayer ?" It is often said. "Shall I say to myself : Now I want to pray with faith to receive such grace ?" No, it is not in this way that the human spirit can be pushed into action. You might as well undertake to evoke a spirit of the other world.

You first need to get the proof that God wants to grant the blessing. How did Daniel go about offering the prayer of faith ? He searched the scriptures. But you must not leave your Bible on the shelf and wait for God to come to reveal His will directly to you.

"Search the scriptures," and see if you can find a general or particular promise, or a prophecy you can rely upon. Go through the Bible, and you will find it full of precious promises that your faith can claim.

A curious thing happened in a city in the state of New York. An alarm clock had occurred. A certain pastor came to visit the place. and heard a lot about the prayer of faith. He was stunned by what he heard, because he had never considered this subject in that day. He questioned the pastor who benevolently invited him to return home, to take his New Testament, to look for passages relating to prayer, to see those of his parishioners who prayed the most, and to ask them how they understood these passages.

He went to the men and women of his parish who knew best how to pray ; he read to them the passages chosen, without notes or comments, and asked them what they thought of it. He found that their common sense led them to understand these passages, and to believe that they meant exactly what they were saying. He was touched. Then the fact that he had thus presented to them the promises of the Word awakened in these parishioners themselves the spirit of prayer, and an awakening ensued.
