The real source of power

First seek the kingdom and righteousness of God, and all this will be given to you. Matthew 6:33

A man or woman who has focused his attention on financial gain, trade or social prestige, or who has concentrated all his affection on a particular person, has a catastrophic sense of loss when he has been denied who gave meaning to life. In these tragic moments, the individual recognizes how terribly and completely alone he is.

At that moment, the Holy Spirit can bring down the bandages of the world and allow him to see clearly for the first time. He recognizes that God is the only source of real power and the only lasting source of love and fellowship.

Prayer for the day

From the depths of the depths, Lord, my eyes have seen that only you are immutable, eternal love. Help me to put you first in everything I do.
