The remission of sins

He (Jesus) said to them : I am not of this world. This is why I told you that you will die in your sins. Indeed, if you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sins. John 8:23, 24

The remission of sins

Oops! Two weird words united in this title! We must first explain the second to understand the first.

- Sin is not an obsession reserved for believers or those who are badly in their skin. It is the fact, for someone, of having missed the purpose of God in their life. for not having done with his life what God expected of him. Even a thought of pride, or lust, does not enter into this plan of God. this has consequences : God is holy, he cannot bear sin. Sin therefore separates man from him. Now we have all offended God (1 Kings 8, 46), so we are all deprived of his presence.

- This is where the word remission takes on its importance : it is the act by which sins are taken away, as if they no longer existed ; in other words, this word refers to the forgiveness granted to one who repents and believes that Jesus was punished in his stead. But be careful, believe it, otherwise "you will die in your sins", says Jesus. That is to say, you will go to meet God, loaded with offenses which he cannot see... He will not be able to receive you, you will be permanently removed from him, lost, suffering the consequences of your offenses... If someone does not personally believe that Jesus is the Son of God, who came to atone for our sins, he does not receive the remission of sins.

But personally, I believe that Jesus Christ has already "paid" for me, that he suffered the punishment in my place, and that my sins are therefore "remitted", taken away. They will never be able to blame me again, I can meet God without fear. I believe it, I can lift my head and move on. And you ?
