The rights of those who follow you...

“For brotherly love, be full of affection for one another and compete in mutual esteem.” Romans 12:10

If God has given you a role as a spiritual leader, your responsibility is greater than that of your followers. What is your responsibility towards them :

1- They have the right to expect you to be completely frank with them. They must know your true character. If they agree to listen to you, do you promise to always be honest and with integrity with them ? Will they always know exactly what you think ?

2- They have the right to demand that you take the time to explain your vision to them and their place in your projects. Will you integrate them into your vision or will you use them to accomplish your own agenda ?

3- They want to feel recognized by you. Will you be with them when they need you, or will you let them fend for themselves without providing the necessary help ?

4- They have the right to hope that you will listen to them when they come to confide in you. If you are overworked and stressed, will you still be able to listen to them ?

5- They want you to trust them. Will you let them take the initiative or will you rather paralyze them, so that they do not try anything on their own and follow you blindly ? Will you reward their good ideas, encourage them to develop their creativity, or treat anything that comes from someone else as uninteresting ?

6- They want to grow thanks to you. Will you allow them to develop and study until their last breath ? Will you recognize their talents, will you help them develop the best of themselves ?

7- They have the right to feel fairly valued by you. Will you be willing to judge their commitment and performance with love and lead them to always strive for excellence in their work for God ? Will you have the patience to correct them if necessary so that they can honor Him more.

8- They expect to be the object of your generosity and compassion. Will you forgive them for their mistakes and failures ? Will you encourage them to become what God called them to be ? Will you guide them with tenderness ? Don't let them down ! Remember the rights they have over you !
