The secret for a life of victory

"For you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, and praying by the Holy Spirit, hold yourself in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for life. eternal" (Jude 20-21).

As I read these verses in Jude, I heard the Spirit whispering softly to me : "David, I wish you to enter into the fullness and joy of my love. You have good theology. But you have not yet experienced the true repose of the soul that comes when you stay in my love. Until now, you have been there only to the ankles. But there is a whole ocean in which you can swim."

The Bible is full of the truth of God's love. Yet, I admit that there are times when I wonder how the Lord can love me. It's not that I doubt His love. It's more like a failure on my part to keep me in the knowledge and assurance of His love for me.

The revelation of God's love comes in part when we are born again. If you asked the majority of Christians what they know about God's love for them, they would answer, "I know that God loves me because He gave His Son, who died for me." John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

It is a wonderful moment when you understand this truth : "God loved me when I was lost, defeated, a stranger. And He proved his love for me by sacrificing His only-begotten Son to me."

Understanding the love of God is the secret to a life of victory. Multitudes become spiritually cold because they are ignorant of God's love for them. They do not know that their greatest weapon against Satan's attacks is to be fully convinced of his love, which can only come through the revelation of the Holy Spirit.
