The song of women

Searching the Scriptures

Sing in honor of the Lord, you who love him; praise his holiness with your praise. Psalm 30.5

We often talk these days about freeing women's voices. But do you know they don't just have abuse or trivia to tell? They have so much to say, pray, proclaim, but also sing...

After crossing the Red Sea, Miriam led the people in extravagant praise. Exodus 15:20-21 tells us : "Miriam, the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took in her hand a tambourine and all the women came out after her with tambourines and dancing. Miriam replied to the Israelites : Sing in honor of the Lord, for he has burst forth his glory ; he has cast down the horse and his rider into the sea."

Deborah, judge in Israel, urged the people who suffered from the oppression of the Canaanites, to return to the true God. She stood up like a warrior and led the army to victory. We read this in Judges 5:3-12 "I will sing in honor of the Lord, I will sing in honor of the Lord, the God of Israel... Awake, awake, say a song !"

Anne, after giving birth to the miracle baby, Samuel, thanks God in a prayer that resembles a Psalm. This prayer is found in 1 Samuel 2: 1-2 : "My heart rejoices in the Lord, my strength is raised up by the Lord. My mouth is opened against my enemies, for I rejoice in your help. None. is holy like the Lord. There is no God other than you, there is no rock like our God."

Mary, pregnant with Jesus, cannot shut her mouth before the grace bestowed on her. In Luke 1:46-48, we read : "My soul celebrates the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, because he has looked upon his humble handmaid."

In the history of the Church, beautiful songs written by women have come down to us.

Just as I am : "As I am, with nothing to me, if not your blood shed for me..." a song by Charlotte Elliott (XIXth century), of fragile health, she fought against depression and a feeling of 'uselessness. It was then that she approached the "Lamb of God" and wrote this wonderful song that has touched so many generations.

Turn your eyes to Jesus : "Turn your eyes to Jesus, look at his wonderful face. The things of the earth will gradually turn pale..." For Helen H. Lemmel (XXth century), these words took on their full meaning: become blind, her husband left her and left her destitute.

Nowadays, singers such as Fabienne Pons, Lauren Daigle or Sinach, lead us before the throne of God. Whether we are a man or a woman, let us join our voices to adore him : "You are there among us, I adore you", "The Lord reigns... for the duration of time", "You make your way , work miracles, you keep your promises". Glory to his Name !

Listen to the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God means. Like these women, God has endowed you with a voice of your own. Ask him how to release that voice to mark your generation.

Praying is simple. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and He can hear everything.

Here is an example of a prayer : “Lord, I choose to unite my voice with those of these women mentioned in the text. Show me what I can do at my level to make a difference around me and mark my generation. choose to obey what you tell me."

Praise God

To praise God is to show Him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord for this.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the lord

Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Lord, thank you for this thought and for all these women who rise in your name to obey your voice and serve you. To you be the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. So be it !"
