The sport of the soul !
Colossians 3:13 - Support one another, and if one has reason to complain about the other, forgive each other. As Christ forgave you, so forgive yourself.
We have already talked about forgiveness in our thoughts, but this topic is so important that it is worth returning to. You and I are surrounded by people who are not easy to get along with. Whether it is neighbors, coworkers, leaders, brothers and sisters in Christ, or even people in our own homes, some have a knack for tapping into the system and making us angry ! It is very human that the "characters" clash, get annoyed and unfortunately get hurt.
We would have liked the Word of God to advise us to balance the four truths, to let go, to express loud and clear what we think of the other... but, it does not agree at all. She encourages us to endure, to endure and to forgive. Not only forgive, but forgive like Christ.
The Lord knows very well the process that our soul goes through. She gets angry, she gets angry, she opens the door to bitterness and animosity only to be overcome by a nagging grudge. However, when we enter into this process, we become the first victim of this suffering. We are affected by a gangrene which gnaws at us and which still gnaws at us.
Do we do good, have respect for ourselves, do not allow these destructive negative feelings to fill our inner being. As my wife often says, forgiveness is a decision ! When you want to keep your body in shape, you can make the decision to exercise. You may not like it, it costs you effort, but it is the path to good health. Likewise, our human nature will not like to forgive, it will cost us efforts to keep our decision firm and solid, but the result will be that our soul will enjoy good health.
My beloveds, let us not allow one more day to be the victims of grudge. Even if our heart does not feel anything, even if the author of our suffering balances royally, let us make the decision to forgive : "Yes Lord, I make the decision to forgive, I want to do good to my soul and especially to please You, come to my aid”.
Good reflection.
