The strength to move forward

Go with your strength and deliver Israel from the oppression of Midian. Isn't it me who sent you ? […] I will be with you. Judges 6.14.16

I remember this woman who, with a smile on her lips, told painful memories. Bedridden for months after a muscular paralysis, she could hear this voice deep inside her saying : "Go with this strength that you have, I will be with you." At first, that made her smile rather. How could God ask her to do such a thing when she wasn't even sitting up ! Then, convinced that he kept his promises, she took this word seriously and with her strength of character began to regain confidence and give all she had to move forward.

We may not feel as good as what is asked of us, whether in our relationships, at work, or in the service of God. The tasks may seem too difficult or may not be right for us. It is precisely at these times that we must remember this promise that God made to Gideon (an Israelite warrior). While Gideon was very reluctant to go and fight as God asked, the latter told him to go with the strength he had in assuring him to be with him.

Whatever the moment, and with what little strength we have, God can take us far, far. Let’s just lean on that promise and move on : He will never let us down.
