The ten commandments

My son, if you receive my words and if you keep my precepts […] you will find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2.1 and 5

The ten commandments are mentioned several times in the Bible, but men have added several hundred more, so that we can be almost perfect if we respect them all.

However, Jesus boiled down the entire law to two commandments, which encompass all the others (Matthew 22:36-40). Indeed, how could we kill, steal or commit any other sin, if God is the object of all our attention ?

The Bible, Word of God, guides us in our everyday life and gives us the right way to live by respecting Him and respecting others, starting with our parents.

However, we find that if we rely on our willpower alone, we fail to become what God desires for us. We must learn to let Him direct our lives. This does not make us remote-controlled robots, but men and women who desire to please God.

We will do this by seeking to understand and intelligently apply what is written in the Holy Scriptures. We need to take the time to read, to meditate, and to allow the Holy Spirit of God to transform our lives.
