"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" John 8:32



Many sufferings of the soul derive their ability to remain rooted in us as long as we keep quiet them, or even worse, that we deny. We lie to ourselves, we lie to our surroundings, we believe that silence and lies, we will bring healing, but it is not.
Only the truth has the power to make free.

I knew a person who was beaten by her husband, who lived in fear and anxiety, but
hiding this reality to everyone around her. Neither his friends nor his parents nor his colleagues knew the reality of his drama. She hid her blue with loose clothing, and if one was visible she said she had bumped or she had fallen. This lie was admissible because in public her husband was charming. She lived with a perverse manipulator who made her unhappy. She thought about suicide several times; one of these attempts failed. She lied, she lied, and his soul was hopeless. One day she finally decided to escape and tell the truth. Inner healing was initiated that day. Why ?

Because only the truth has the power to make free.

We happen to live in all kinds of silences or lies that only aggravate internal injuries. The child who was a victim of any violence, which we stole his innocence, will believe the lie that it is often insidiously distilled by those who were injured, "You are responsible." He believes in his guilt, and this lie (because it is), continues to poison his life. Similarly, a child who has had a severe and authoritarian father will believe in the lie that is to say that God is authoritarian and hard. Whatever silence or lie, in which we enclose, it can bring us inner healing. This was King David experienced. As long as he lived in denial and lies, he was unhappy. He discovered that only the truth can make it free, and he says : "You want the truth in his heart" Psalm 51.8

Remember that woman who had an issue of blood, we are told : "She came and fell at Jesus' feet, and told him the whole truth." And Jesus said, "Go in peace and be freed from your suffering" Mark 5.33-34.

A tip for today

Do not allow the silence and lie push you more into the abyss of your inner wounds. Believe in love of God, his word is truth, in his mercy, his grace, in his justice. Be true (e) before him, he will heal your wounded soul.
