The Valley of Darkness !

Psalms 23.4 – If I were to pass through the valley where the darkness of death reigns, I would fear no evil, for you are with me : your rod guides me and your staff protects me.

Being guided by the Good Shepherd sometimes requires courage and full trust in Him. Two days ago we were talking about green pastures and still waters, here we are talking about a valley filled with darkness and death. It represents the daily dangers we face but also the impure and evil spirits that surround us.

There are those moments in our lives when everything changes, fear seizes us, anxiety grips us, we are caught up in the void and we become aware of all the wickedness of the world of darkness. This is where our trust in Jesus will be beneficial. David shouts loud and clear : “I fear no evil !". No harm ! Lord You are with me, no harm! Your crook leads me through this valley, no harm ! You have your staff to beat those who would harm me, You the Eternal God, You protect me : I FEAR NO EVIL !

The question is : Do we have that confidence ? Am I complaining : "Lord why did You bring me here ?". Or am I ready to accept the challenge knowing that after this crossing, I will be stronger spiritually, more established, closer to the heart of the Shepherd ? Life with the Lord is not a long calm river, it is an exciting adventure. Maturity is acquired after these confrontations with the world of darkness, our destiny is to be "more than victorious" but let us never forget that it is WITH our Good Shepherd.
