Watch therefore, since you know neither the day nor the hour. Matthew 25. 13
We sigh within ourselves, waiting... for the release of our body. Romans 8. 23 Segond Version 21
The wait
A close friend has a serious illness requiring a transplant. She is then placed on a waiting list. From this moment on, you must be ready to receive the call from the hospital at any time of the day or night, and to get there as quickly as possible. Several phones are always charged and connected so as not to miss the call, the suitcase is always ready.
This situation makes me think about the care I will need to take to maintain my relationship with God. As my friend was careful to avoid an infection that could have compromised the transplant, am I careful not to let obstacles arise that would prevent me from hearing what God wants to say to me ? Do I always make sure I maintain good communication with him ?
The day the call finally came, his loved ones left all their activities and immediately went to the hospital. Isn't this what will happen when Jesus calls us from heaven to join him ? Are we ready to leave everything behind ?
For us who have known Christ as our Savior, there will be no more fear. We will leave behind us the sufferings of our human condition, but above all we will go to meet our Lord. Do we look forward to this day with fervor ?
However, for those who have remained indifferent to God's love or refused it during their lives, it will be too late to come to Him. Today, Jesus offers his forgiveness. Thanks to the death of Christ, you can, without delay, receive eternal life.
