Never be surprised to be rejected because you proclaim Christ! In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus took care to warn us of this risk. He said : "Happy are you when men hate you, when they drive you away, and insult us, and reject you as infamous because of the Son of Man !" (Luke 6:22)
When we take the road to evangelize, do not be surprised if we are rejected, because we go directly to the enemy's field to tear the souls to perdition.
This alien universe of the street can quickly become a hostile universe. Do not think that the devil will unroll a red carpet under our feet and listen to us quietly share the Good News. Souls are his business.
Georges Müller made this statement : "There was a day when I died, where I died totally. I died to George Müller and his opinions, his preferences, his tastes and his will ; I died in the world, in his approval or reprobation ; I died for the approval or the reproaches even of my brothers and my friends. And since then, I have only applied myself to being approved by God."
None of the Christians of the time of the Apostle Paul could ignore the reality of the persecution. The greatest leaders of the Church have been victims. But the persecution never discouraged them from accomplishing their mission. Paul always made sure to strengthen the disciples' minds (Acts 14: 21-22). Even today, we must face mockery, criticism, slander and sometimes even physical violence, but hold firm.
Charles Spurgeon liked to say : "In Heaven, there will be no bearer of the crown who have not been bearers of the cross on the earth".
