The way of the life

"I am the way, the truth and the life ; no one comes to the Father except by me." John 14. 6

When a ship arrives to enter a large port, we can observe a star who goes to meet him. She brings a pilot on board the ship. He knows perfectly all the way that the ship must follow to access its dock. Of course, he does not know all the rocks and shoals hidden underwater in the region ; but he knows the channel, the path that the ship can travel safely.

In our life, there are many paths available to us ! Some offer us material goods, others the consideration of our fellow beings, others many earthly pleasures ... Some men are even convinced that there are several paths that can lead them to the salvation of their souls ! What disappointments await those who choose to borrow them ! There is no point in trying to explore them to be convinced. There is one way that leads to eternal life; this path is Jesus himself (verse of the day), there is no other ! Already David said with certainty, addressing God : "You shall show me the way of life" (Ps. 16. 11).

The believer only needs to know that way ; it does not matter what rocks are on either side of the channel leading to God; the pilot, our Savior, is at the helm of the ship! It is the same for the sheep who know only the voice of their shepherd : "The sheep follow him, because they know his voice" (John 10: 4). No matter what the sound of others' voices, only one voice needs to be known.

Jesus Christ is not only a pilot or a shepherd, he is the way himself ! It does not just show the way to go on a map. He does not save sinners by the magnificent example he has left of his walk on the earth, even if some people think so ; he is himself the salvation ! No other way of life than him ! It is necessary not only to be convinced of it but also to convince, by the action of the Holy Spirit, those whom we meet and who are likely to be misled in other ways.
