"They cried to the Lord"

The Bible promises that it is possible to understand the goodness of the Lord. What is the key ? King David said : "Whoever is wise will take heed to these things, and will understand the goodness of the Lord" (Psalms 107: 43 Darby version).

David has received an incredible revelation from the gracious and forgiving heart of God. And he discovered it simply by observing how God had cared for his beloved children in the past. David says it this way :

"They suffered from hunger and thirst ; Their soul was languid. In their distress they cried to Yahweh, and he saved them from their distress ; He led them by the right path, so that they would arrive in a habitable city. Let them praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonders for the sons of men" (Psalm 107: 5-8).

When the children of Israel moved away from the Lord, they began to feel hungry and thirsty and lost because of their sin. But then, they shouted to the Lord and what happened ? "He has satisfied the altered soul, He has filled the hungry soul with good things" (107: 9).

Yet they rebelled again and again, falling even lower. Again, we read : "In their distress they cried to the Lord ... He sent his word and healed them" (107: 19-20).

Finally, God's people have come to the end of their own strength. A storm was raging and their soul was troubled : "In their distress they cried to the LORD, and he delivered them from their distresses ; He stopped the storm, brought calm" (107: 28-29).

David responded to this revelation : "Look how the heart of God is easily moved. Oh, how he responds to the cries of his children. His mercy has no end."

Beloved, you do not need to keep moving forward in agony and guilt. Go to the Lord, shout and confess to Him. He is a tender Father who is touched by each of your cries.
