For God loved the world so much that he gave his only son, so that anyone who believes in him does not perish, but that he has eternal life. John 3.16
Thierry
Thierry, whose parents held a butcher's shop, had a nanny, in whom he sometimes listened to this song for children : "For God loved the world he gave his only son so much." One day, the toddler spontaneously entered : "For God loved the world so much that he gave a sausage". Lapsus that made everyone laugh ! For the child, through phonetic resemblance, there was nothing abnormal in the idea of giving a sausage...
Our reason has difficulty understanding that God can give his Son for us. However, it is not an intellectual affair, but of faith. A popular song says about Christ : "Your look is surprised, you don't understand. A king who forgives, it does not exist. A king who bows to his subjects ; crowned with thorns, it's up to you to judge... "
Indeed, at the cross we have proof of this amazing love of God. He offered the most precious, to establish a relationship with us : it took an innocent death to buy our guilty lives.
Thierry grew up. But one day, far too young, he died in a car accident. What a tragedy ! Only the hope that he has accepted the salvation of God in Christ can soften the pain of his loved ones. The question arises for everyone...
