This fight that rages in us !

Romans 7:19 - For I do not do the good that I want, and I do the bad that I do not want.

I think a fight was raging in the heart of the apostle Paul. However, on the contrary, have you never felt a struggle within you because you were doing the good that you did not want to do ?

The flesh and the Spirit have contrary desires. Bless his enemies, return good for evil, please someone who is completely disinterested in you... All these things are not natural to human beings and our flesh then resists the Spirit of God who dwells in us and who desires to see us act according to the rules that govern the Kingdom of God.

It is then that a fight is raging in us, our flesh wants to take the top and if we let it speak, then the enemy comes to add to it by saying to us : "But you are only a mop, you are not. never say anything, you saw how they take you for a fool...” (you know as well as I do everything that can come to our minds at that moment). We then cry out to God : "I've had enough, finished !" I can not stand it anymore ! Father, am I not your child ?".

The answer is yes, a thousand times yes, but we are also his disciple, the one who is called to resemble his Master. Oh, you'll tell me, but it's hard ! It is true that this is hard, our flesh wanting to gain the upper hand, but it is possible because such is the desire of God.

The Word tells us in Psalm 37 not to envy those who do evil, to trust in the Lord, to do good, to delight in the Lord. I invite you to meditate on this psalm written by David, the man after God's heart. He understood that all our strength is in God and that the only thing that matters is to rejoice the heart of our Father and Lord. He understood that even if the wicked sometimes stretched out like a green tree, the Lord is the protector of the righteous in times of distress.

My friend, keep your eyes fixed on the Lord, do not turn away, go on, do not tire of doing good and wait on the Lord because you will reap in due time (Galatians 6: 9).

Be encouraged. With all my compassion.
