Three testimonials

"The woman left her pitcher and returned to the city ; she said to the people : Come and see a man who has told me all that I have done ; Is not this the Christ ? They went out of the city and came to him." John 4: 28-30

"Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and when he found him, he said to him : Do you believe in the Son of God ? And he said, Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him? Jesus said to him : You have seen him, and he who speaks with you is he. He said : I believe, Lord ! And he did him homage." John 9: 35-38

"Thomas answered him : My Lord and my God !" John 20:28

Here are three testimonies, very different from each other by circumstances and persons. But all have been restored to the person of the Lord Jesus.

The first is given by a Samaritan woman who understands that the man whose words have touched her conscience, heart and life is Christ. Under the effect of emotion or to run faster to the city, she leaves her pitcher and announces the news to her fellow citizens : "Is not this the Christ ? ... He told me everything what I have done".

His discovery is contagious : "Many more people believed because of his word (that of Jesus) ; they said to the woman ; "It is no longer because of what you said that we believe ; for we ourselves have heard it, and we know that it is truly the Savior of the world" (John 4:42). The foundation of their faith is no longer the testimony of the Samaritan woman but Jesus Himself.

The second testimony is that of a blind man born by Jesus, but of whom he knows almost nothing. An embarrassing witness for the religious leaders of the people, he was expelled from the synagogue. Jesus comes to meet Him and reveals Himself to Him. This man whom Jesus healed now knows whom he believes and pays homage to the Son of God.

Finally, Thomas, who is absent in the upper room on the day of resurrection, wants to be able to touch the Lord to believe. When Jesus appeared to her a week later, Thomas had to come to the obvious, touched by this word of the Lord : "Look at my hands" (John 20:27). These words are enough for Thomas, convinced, to exclaim : "My Lord and my God !" (John 21:28).

Each of these testimonies results from a personal encounter with the Lord who has changed those who have lived it.
