The door to door, does it work ? I believe that the perseverance of Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons in this area is enough to answer this question.
As far as I'm concerned, with the Bible stand, the door to door was one of my first evangelistic activities. And I recognize that it is an exercise that requires not only daring and a lot of perseverance, but also a good knowledge of the Word of God.
The door to door teaches humility, because whatever reception you have, you must always be respectful. So it's an excellent school... Arrived inside a building, you have to take the elevator to the top floor, when there is an elevator... and then you have to go down floor by floor and knock on each door. And every time, in front of the door, it's waiting. You pray inwardly "Lord, prepare the heart of this person, Lord touch it ! And you always ask yourself the same questions : "Who will open ? Will the person be well disposed ?". And then, you wait and you hear a little noise behind the door. You see a shadow moving at the bottom of the door, a shadow moving behind the eyecup. The person is looking at you and wondering if she should open. His decision depends on many things, perhaps even his eternal destiny.
It's a real spiritual fight. And the door opens ! Sometimes, unfortunately, she remains silent. But when it opens, then you meet very different people. Sometimes you find yourself in the presence of an elderly person, a mother, a single child, a man ravaged by alcohol, a worker who has worked all night and who is not not happy because you have just woken him up, etc. Sometimes you are well received. We invite you to come in and even drink coffee. But it also happens that the door closes without further explanation.
