Time to choose

“Do you want to be healed ?” John 5.6

He cannot walk, the pool is not easy to access, and there is no elevator. When Jesus comes to him and asks this man who has been disabled for thirty-eight years : “Do you want to be healed ?”, One may wonder why such a question ! Of course, He didn't ask him that question because He didn't know the answer. He asked it to make him think (and us at the same time) adequately. He could have simply asked her : “Are you ready to take responsibility for your life ? Do you really want this promotion, or do you find it easier to keep bitching about your lack of money and the high cost of living ? Are you ready for marriage, for someone to share your life and question your selfish ways ?" Many times our prayers are not answered without our having to pay a price. For example, a drug addict's family may pray for years for him to change and be free from his addiction, but the day that happens, they are the ones who face their own crisis. Because their life revolved around this drama, they never learned to live any other way. Now is the time to make a choice: whether to continue to blame others for their own difficulties, or accept the fact that they must learn to deal with their own feelings on their own ? “And you, do you want to be healed ?” Whether you like it or not, asking God to provide you with solutions often means new challenges. To have a little pocket money, a child may choose, for example, to distribute newspapers on his days off. But as he grows, he will have to accept other important challenges, such as providing for his family. Fortunately, solving bigger problems brings bigger rewards. Ask God to help you push your limits ever further, so that you can “take your bed and walk on your own” (John 5.8), free you from everything that still holds you prisoner, and move forward towards challenges. more exhilarating. In other words, “Choose life !”
