The following summer I passed the old man's house, and I saw his friend and another young man whom I had never seen. I continued my journey because I was in a hurry, but I knew that I could talk to this young man about Jesus. It is always in our power to speak of Jesus, and we read in Proverbs : "Do not deny a favor to those who are entitled to it when you have the power to grant it" (Proverbs 3:27).
Do not people have the right to hear about Jesus ? Who will go to talk to them about Jesus, if we do not go there ? They may be dying tonight when we choose to continue our journey to go about our activities, like this young man who had just got married and who did not have time to go to this banquet, or this other who had a field to see or oxen to try. God offers us a feast : to speak of Jesus Christ, the Savior of humanity, the King of glory and the Lord of lords !
How many times have we apologized to our conscience and the Holy Spirit, because we had to go home ! Children, homework, home, repairs, invitation, papers, things to do ! And they could not hear the glorious message that was in our hearts. They simply saw a car or a person holding a treasure they only saw from afar. They would have liked to be offered this treasure. By giving it, we still have enough. They would have liked us to stop and tell them that they do not have to live in sadness, sickness and misery every day of their lives. They would have liked to hear good news for once.
As I passed his house, I struggled internally and told myself that if I had a gospel or a cd left, I would go back. I had a gospel left. I prayed for this old gentleman, and I spoke to this young man, leaving him the gospel and my telephone number. I'm taking his friend home. I learned 3 days later that the next day, the old man was taken to the hospital. I might never have seen him again.
