"As in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark (they only knew not until the flood came who carried them all), so will be the coming of the Son of Man." Matthew 24. 38, 39
In the presence of people with a culture different from their own, some people once again feel like a Christian soul ... But do they only know what a Christian is ?
Many say : "I am a believer !" Muslims and Buddhists are also believers ... In Jesus' day, almost everyone was a believer. The apostle James writes : "The demons also believe, and they shudder" (James 2:19). In Athens, Paul told the Greeks : You say you're not believers, but I saw in your city this inscription : "To the unknown god" (Acts 17. 23.). Many people today murmur in a moment of distress, "My God, make that ..." ; but this prayer is also addressed "To the unknown god".
Is it being Christian ? Let's not be fuzzy about it. Let's see the words of Jesus quoted in the header : is it possible that we are at this point in the illusion ? Everything I am, everything I did and still I think nothing is me if I did not receive Jesus as my Savior and Lord staff.
- "But I was baptized !" That's not what makes a Christian.
- "But I pray every day !" That's not what makes a Christian.
- "But I go to church regularly !" It's not that.
- "But I had a lot of hardships !" That's not it either.
- "What is it, then ?" It was discovered that Jesus is the only Savior that God gave, the only one who can rescue me from the punishment that I deserve and eternal death. The Gospel according to John says so : "The Father loves the Son and has put everything in his hands. Who believes in the Son has eternal life ; but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God dwells on him" (John 3:35, 36).
Obeying the Son is listening to him, believing him, and submitting to him ! To believe that he is the Son of God, to believe that he loves me to the point of having taken upon him all my guilt.
