To lose or to win ?

What will it do for a man to gain the whole world if he loses his soul ? Mark 8. 36

God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3.16

To lose or to win ?

In this world you can lose everything :

- His money : bankruptcy, and here are the best savings which fly away.

- His reputation : it is enough to be the victim of slander.

- His work : unemployment can affect us quickly.

- His health : I can be full of energy this morning... and in the hospital tonight.

- His friends : finding friends and dating friends, expanding the list of friends on Facebook, it's easy. But keeping real friends is another thing.

- His bonds of affection : how many families dislocated by separations or divorces !

- His memory : you don't have to be very old to start losing it.

- His life : everyone knows that life can be interrupted at any age. Of course, we prefer not to think about it, but yet...

- His soul : a very far-sighted man, who believed he was safe from any bad surprises on the material level, one day heard this solemn word : "Foolish ! This very night, your soul will be asked for again" (Luke 12.20 ). Foolish ! Will this be the only epitaph that will remain on our tombstone ?

Yet the gospel tells us that there is something that we cannot lose, a gift that God gives us, and that nothing and no one can ever deprive us of. This gift is eternal life, through faith in his Son, Jesus Christ. Did you accept it ?
