To love until the end

Searching the Scriptures

Jesus, knowing that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father, and having loved his own who were in the world, added to his love for them. […] He got up from the table, took off his clothes, and took a towel, which he girded himself on. Then he poured water into a basin, and he began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe them with the cloth with which he was girded. John 13.1-5

The Lord is omniscient, that is to say, he has infinite knowledge : he knows all things perfectly (past, present or future), from all eternity ! He knows them immediately, simultaneously, exhaustively and truly. The scope of knowledge of God is endless.

Therefore, Jesus knows that Judas is going to betray him, that Peter is going to deny him, and that most of the other disciples will take flight when he is arrested by the Roman soldiers. Nevertheless, he puts the crown on his love for them. Beyond their weaknesses, Jesus loves them, to the end !

When we get married, we declare loyalty and love in good times and in bad times. Yet, in the hour of trial, many betray themselves, deny themselves or flee.

Jesus knows perfectly well the faults and the future escapades of his loved ones. And yet, he will decide to love them to the point of washing their feet and dying on the cross for them. The love of Jesus is not conditioned by our beautiful qualities. The Bible tells us that he loved us first as we lived in rebellion and idolatry in this world.

One day while watching the news, this question was asked of six-year-olds : "What is love ?" After several childish responses as cute as each other, one child replied : "Love is knowing someone well and still loving them !" What a magnificent response !

Yes, beloved, Jesus knows us perfectly and despite our faults, our weaknesses, our shortcomings, he continues to love us.

Listen to the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God means. God loves you. Let him reveal to you a new dimension of his infinite love for you.

Praying is simple. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and He can hear everything. Here is an example prayer : "Lord, help me to realize the greatness of your love. Thank you for you continue to love me although I am not always worthy. Help me to be like you."

Praise God

To praise God is to show Him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord for this.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our route for the day comes to an end. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Lord, I am touched by your love. It is beyond me! Thine are the reign, the power and the glory forever. So be it !"
