To what God us destine ?

Now the LORD speaks - he who formed me from birth to be his servant. Isaiah 49: 5

As soon as we understood that God was calling us to his service, in Jesus Christ, we see all the prejudices and particular tendencies disappearing in us. For it is the entire human race that God has created for His glory and to which He wants to give himself. Sin has turned humanity on another path, but it has not changed anything at all in the eternal purpose of God. God has created all mankind to glorify Him, and every one of us, as soon as He is born from on high, has a very clear vision. God has chosen me, God has formed me for his service ; nothing is more beautiful than this thought. God's wonderful design in creating the world fills me with joy and hope. God teaches me to contemplate in the narrow limits of my heart the love of all humanity. "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son ..." (John 3:16). It is the love of God himself, it is the nature of God himself which is thus formed in our own heart.

We must always have in mind the magnificent design of God the Creator, and not mingle our own views. If this happens to us, God would be forced to drive out of our soul these egocentric concerns, even at the price of the most intense suffering. The Christian knows that he was created to be at the service of God, and to glorify Him. The redemption accomplished by Jesus Christ makes us perfectly fit for this service.

So we understand why the requirements of Jesus are so absolute. He asks His disciples the perfection of God, because He has put in them the nature of God.
