"The part of the one who has gone down to battle and the part of the one who has remained near the baggage must be the same : together they will share, and so it was from this day and in the future. 1 Samuel 30.24-25

Who is the merit ? Who receives honors and glory ? Throughout history, this kind of issue has continually sparked divisions and disputes, created rivalry and jealousy.
Each one of us is special in the eyes of God.

David faced this problem when 400 of his men pursued the Amalekites who had captured their families and stolen their property. When the 400 returned to their camp, they met the 200 who had been "too tired" to go to battle. It was a potentially dangerous and divisive situation. But David declared that everyone would have his share of rewards.

Paul encountered a similar situation in the primitive Church, threatened by divisions and rivalries. He explained to the new Christians that they were all part of the same Body. Everyone was unique. That every function, whatever it was, had its importance. And he said unto them, Thus it is not he that planteth, but he that watereth, but God that make grow: he that planteth, and he that watereth, are one, and each one shall receive his own Reward according to his labor "(1 Corinthians 3: 7-8).

These principles are also true today. Each one of us is special in the eyes of God. And we all have a role to play. Some work on the front of the stage, while others are called to work behind the scenes. To provide for financial needs. To pray. What you need to know is that work can only progress if everyone is doing their part.

Concentrate on the tasks to which God has called you. You have a unique destiny and role. Serve it faithfully and with a whole heart. And you will have your share of rewards.

A prayer for today

Father, thank you for your call on my life. Help me to serve you faithfully and fulfill the role you have entrusted to me in the Body of Christ. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
