Traceability

"They received the Word with all good will, examining the Scriptures daily to see if this was so. Many of them believed, as well as Greek women of high rank and also men, in quite a large number. "Acts 17:11, 12

Traceability is a procedure to follow a product or service from its birth to its final valuation. Conversely, this procedure makes it possible to go back, for example, to the composition of the food that served to feed the calf you are enjoying a piece today. The primary objective of traceability is to identify a non-conforming or hazardous product in order to be able to remove it very quickly.

God expects no less from believers. The believers of the city of Berea daily examined the Scriptures : they verified the teaching of the Apostle Paul by comparing it with the Scriptures of the TA.

This narrative is instructive both for those who present the Word of God and for believers who seek truth.

The true teacher of the Bible has a duty of traceability : he must develop his teaching by relying, at every step, on the Scriptures. Paul allowed himself to be examined, it is one of the fine characteristics of the true teacher. He encouraged his readers to do so : "I speak as to intelligent people : judge for yourselves what I say" (1 Cor 10:15).

The reader as well as the listener has the duty of examination, taking time to seek in the Scriptures the confirmation of what is taught him, even though he is a very young believer (1 John 2:21). Some false teachers are subtle. The sooner one becomes aware of a false doctrine, the sooner one limits the damage. As one likes to know what one eats, one must know what one believes. Elihu affirmed it by repeating a word Job : "The ear experiences speech, as the palate tastes food. Let us choose for ourselves what is right and recognize among us what is good "(Job 34: 3, 4; see Job 12: 11).

This duty of traceability is not an intellectual exercise. God speaks to me through a book, only one, the Bible. To live happily, I want to know what God is saying to me and I must refuse the words he would not have uttered : "Blessed are they who listen to the word of God and keep it" (Luke 11:28).
