If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away ; behold all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

It is no longer I who live, it is Christ who lives in me ; if I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me. Galatians 2. 20

Transformation

Born again: the Bible thus defines the Christian, one who has believed in Jesus Christ. “The old things have passed away ; behold, all things have become new. And all of this comes from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17, 18). His new nature lives in a body that is still part of what is “old”. This body, with its faculties, was at the service of self, of sin. Now the believer has the privilege of using it in the service of God ; but the old nature is still there.

The life of our “new man” is that of Christ. This new nature must develop, to show the characters of Jesus. This implies two things :

– To grow well, you must be well nourished. There are many opportunities to feed on Christ. Reading the Bible, speaking to him in prayer, listening to him, serving him, praising him... So many moments when our mind is occupied with what concerns him. A transformation then takes place within us. Our intelligence, our conception of life are oriented in a new way, to please the Lord.

– Do not listen to his “old nature”, this life which unfolds without God, which is not interested in spiritual realities. When she manifests, we are invited not to give in to her desires, but to know how to say “no” by prayer and the power of the Spirit. Then the Holy Spirit will always be more free to act in us. It is he who imparts power to new life, with entirely new motives and desires (read Ephesians 4:30-32).

Isn't that the secret to a rich and fulfilling life ?
