Transformed by the new birth

"Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, to discern what the good, pleasing and perfect will of God is." Romans 12. 2

Crouched on herself, Christine was the sufferer of the tenants of the Foyer where she learned sewing. She had two children "by chance". When she was told that the Lord Jesus loved her, died for her on the cross, Christine opened to the Gospel like a flower in the sun. She began to love. She did not know that they could tuck the children in their beds, kiss them, hold them on their knees, pray with them. She did not know how to give them breakfast in the morning. Since she had never had the slightest gesture of tenderness, she had to learn to feel love and to manifest it. Through the months, Christine was seen transforming and becoming intelligent. She was able to leave the home, leave the guardianship, become independent in an apartment of her own. She wanted to have a "Good News" club, bringing children together in the building where she lived. She spoke of her Lord to all those she met, many belonging to Muslim families.

Being a good parent requires practice. But "the ideal parent" does not exist. One can always bring to God his shortcomings and failures : "You see, Lord, I have only five loaves and two small fishes ! He will multiply them (John 6: 11). It is in my weakness that the power of God is fulfilled (2 Corinthians 12: 9).

Our Heavenly Father is a role model for parents :

"Heavenly Father knows that you need all this" (Luke 11: 11-13 : Matthew 6: 26-32) and protects "as a hen her brood under her wings" (Luke 13: 34).

He is a Father filled with compassion, for He knows us well (Ps. 103: 13, 14).

- He gives tenderness even to toddlers, to those who need to suckle, to be carried, caressed, consoled "like someone whom his mother consoles" (Ephesians 66: 11-13), continually and without being forgotten (Isaiah 49:15, 16).

- He gives strength and shares his experience for learning the lives of his children "like an eagle ... spreads its wings ... carries its young on its feathers" (Deut 32:11, 12).

What an example for us, Christian parents !
