Transmit !

“What you have heard me announce in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to men of confidence, who will themselves be able to teach it to others.” 2 Timothy 2. 2 Current English Bible Version

The musical work of Johann Sebastian Bach is impressive, and some of his compositions have transported the soul in contemplation or exaltation for several centuries now. In 1717, the composer left the musical staves to write something other than notes. He began to write “Le petit livre de l’orgue” intended for the study of the instrument. Today it would be “Organ for Dummies”. As a musician, he was concerned to share his art and thus wished to transmit a beautiful way of honoring his God, with this extraordinary gift of translating his love of the creator into music. In his collection, he inscribes this dedication : “To the Almighty to honor Him ; to the next to teach it”. With his art and his talent, Bach transmits what he received from God via Luther. Long before him, the apostle Paul, who also wanted to share what he had received from God, wanted to transmit this treasure by entrusting it to Timothy – in particular – hoping that in turn, Timothy would transmit it to faithful men. and so, from generation to generation. The mission of the disciple is to make others, by sharing and teaching all that Jesus said. To fulfill this mission, God gives everyone abilities, talents and imagination. What is your talent for transmitting what you have received ? Words, writings, music, painting... You have to find your best expression to say what you have received best, for your children, your loved ones, perhaps even your admirers. Many people seek to leave a trace of their passage here below ; the trace that the Christian must leave is the one that God has imprinted on him, and which has given him to walk straight in this often very twisted world.
