True converts ?

Luke 5.8 – When he saw this, Simon Peter fell at Jesus' knees and said : "Lord, depart from me, for I am a sinful man."

It seemed important to us to speak briefly about conversion. There is so much confusion in Christendom about this. We can automatically rule out that conversion is an intellectual adherence to a teaching. Nor is it dictated by a conscience that is under the yoke of fear.

The principle of conscience originated after Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Every human being has a conscience, the thought of eternity as Solomon will say (Ecclesiastes 3.11). However, many of them have succeeded in extinguishing it, even annihilating it. As they wanted to indulge in sin, they found excuses and even if these excuses are lies, they are satisfied with them and sin without restraint.

Conversion is also not an emotion that arises from the fact that we feel good in the "club" of the church. It is not a contract between God and man where the latter promises certain works in compensation for the blessing.

Conversion, that is to say a radical change of mentality, can only be conceived when the human being is brought into contact with the Holiness of God. It arises from a deep conviction of sin produced by the Holy Spirit like the experience of Peter in our text. This conviction makes it clear by revelation why we are separated from God, why we have a vital need for forgiveness and sanctification. The work of Jesus on the cross can only be understood through this inner experience.

Beloved, I am going to be radical but if you are not so converted you are not born again and therefore you are not saved. Now is a good time to test your experience with God to see if you have understood the gospel message. God is love and He reaches out to you, but He is also Holiness, Justice and a consuming Fire.
