Under God's curse (2)

"Your eyes are too pure to see evil." Habakuk 1.13

The Bible tells us that the holiness of God does not allow Him to contemplate evil or sin. He cannot accept to see the immense and monumental concentration of sins that weighed on Christ's shoulders at the time of the crucifixion. His eyes full of disgust then turned away from His tortured son. All feelings of blessing and love for His son disappear from His heart. In his place, the full weight of the divine curse falls on him. Sproul adds : “It is as if a cry is falling from the sky - forgive my language, but nothing else can better express the reality of this moment - a cry falling from His father's lips and ringing in the ears. of Jesus : “Curse You !” This is what it meant to Him to be forsaken of God, crushed under the weight of His curse, the object of divine anathema, in short, damned." Every man, every woman who does not benefit from the righteousness of Jesus, finds himself under the eternal curse of God. The depth of the Gospel is in this truth : the holiness of God cannot tolerate sin and demands a relentless curse. Jesus endured it so that we could escape it. Preaching the Gospel requires that we affirm this aspect of God's character. If we do not understand the severity of the divine curse, how can we fully appreciate the vastness of divine grace ? If we do not understand how great is the holiness of God, and how much our sinful nature is repugnant to God, how can we realize how much it cost Jesus to redeem us ?
