Under the influence of Christ (3)

“If you abide in Me and My words abide in you... abide in My love.” John 15. 7.9

What does “abide in Jesus and He in us” mean ?

1- First of all His words must remain in us. Which just means to study His Word. When He promised to send the Holy Spirit to us, He added that He “will teach you all things and will remind you of all that I have told you” (John 14. 26). The children of God who immerse themselves in His Word discover the face of Jesus, the Son of God and the Holy Spirit takes charge by the grace of God to transform them into the image of Jesus, so that they reflect the glory of God.

2- Then we must bear the fruits produced by Jesus, which translates into “doing the work of God here below, according to His will”. If we remain under His influence, our work will influence others and transfer divine blessings to them.

3- Finally we must obey the sovereign will of God. “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, as I have kept My Father's commandments and remain in His love. This is My command : that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than the one who lets go of his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you” (John 15. 10, 12-14). Remember that a cut branch, a branch detached from the vine, cannot bear fruit and therefore remains useless. Its final destination is fire. But the branch that bears the fruit illustrates the supernatural power of God as it works in us and makes us the overcomers God intended us to become. With one ultimate goal : that we help others to also become overcomers capable of bearing much fruit.
