Unload you of your burdens

“Cast all your worries on him, for he himself takes care of you.” 1 Peter 5. 7

When you have done what God told you to do, trust Him to do the rest ! Maybe you're worried about your family, your career, your finances, or your future. You think you've done your best, but you feel like you're at your wit's end. Yet you are one step away from experiencing a miracle. Open your heart to God, but do not come begging at His feet : you are His son or His daughter, not an anonymous beggar. He is your Father, He knows your needs : “your heavenly Father knows that you need it” (Matthew 6:32). H. Whitehall Smith tells the story of a man driving his horse and cart down a country road when he encountered a stranger walking down the side, crushed under the weight of a huge sack. He stopped and offered to ride alongside him, which the stranger gladly accepted. But he was surprised to see that the stranger kept his burden on his shoulders ! "Why don't you get rid of your bag by putting it in the cart ?" he asked her. “Oh, you were very good at letting me ride beside you,” replied the stranger, “but I can't ask you to carry my burden too!” Ridiculous, you think, yet isn't that what we often do? Listen to this divine promise : “Until your old age I will be the same, until your white hair I will support you. As I have done before, I still want to carry you, support you and preserve you” (Isaiah 46. 4). And also this one : “The God of eternity is a refuge ; under His everlasting arms is a shelter” (Deuteronomy 33:27). Stop keeping your worries close at hand, if you want Satan to stop waving them under your nose ! Instead, take God's promises to heart !
