Until the end !

Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes, that I may follow it to the end ! Psalm 119.33

What a heartbreaking story of the first king of Israel, Saul ! God had chosen this seemingly humble man, and then removed him from the throne, because he had not obeyed him to the end. The formidable army of Philistine enemies was encamped near Gilgal, where the king was to await the arrival of Samuel for seven days. He had, but... not all the way ! The last day, panicked, not seeing the priest coming, he usurped his function, and he was disqualified ! (1 Samuel 13.1 to 14)

Long ago, in order to take the city of Jericho from their enemies, God had ordered Joshua's men to make a certain number of tours of this city... by blowing their trumpets ! It was only after the 13th round (on the 7th day) that the walls collapsed and the city was taken ! Joshua had obeyed God all the way. (see suggested reading) Saul should have been inspired by it !

But what a pity also if a reader does not go to the end of his search for God ! It would be all the more distressing if Jesus Christ went to the end of his sacrifice, despite all who wanted to dissuade him from doing so. On the cross he cried out triumphantly : "It is finished" ! (John 19:30) and God resurrected him brilliantly. We can therefore trust him completely ! So, let's not risk being disqualified for negligence !
