Uproot the weeds !

Searching the Scriptures

See to it that no one deprives himself of the grace of God, that no root of bitterness, producing offspring, causes trouble, and many are infected with it. Hebrews 12:15

Those who do a little gardening know very well that cutting a weed is not enough to get rid of it : you also have to pull out the root, sometimes very deep ! Otherwise it reappears, just as vigorous the following days and will continue to suffocate the flowers, fruits and vegetables that are cultivated.

It is the same in our life. The disappointments, the misunderstandings, the conflicts, the wounds, the trials that we are going through are all occasions to sow bitterness in the depths of our soul.

If we do not watch, our heart quickly becomes a field of thorns that choke the good seed that God sows in us. And it also affects those around us. Discouragement and resentment are very contagious !

We do not always control the events that affect us. However, we have power over our reactions and thoughts. We can refuse to cultivate sadness, bitterness, spite.

This is why, day after day, let us clean our secret garden, so as not to leave time for the brambles to grow, to strengthen themselves to end up destroying the good things that God offers us.

Did you have a quarrel ? Make every effort to restore peace. Have you been offended ? Forgive and let divine justice act. Are you bored and overwhelmed ? Lay your burden at the foot of the cross.

Listen to the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God means. What feelings would need to be uprooted from your heart ?

Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "In your grace, Lord, come to my aid to heal my wounds and free me from these bonds of bitterness. Like the psalmist, I invite you to weed my heart." Search me, oh God, and know my heart ! Test me, and know my thoughts ! See if I am on an evil way, and lead me on the way to eternity !" (Psalm 139.23-24) Amen.

Praise God

To praise God is to show him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our route for the day comes to an end. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Lord, thank you for only you can help me remove the bad roots of my heart. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
