Vainquish the yoke of the fear

"God hath not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of common sense." 2 Timothy 1: 7

7, 8, 9 January 2015. Paris and Montrouge. Attacks involving 17 victims and 22 wounded.

13 November 2015. Paris and Seine St Denis. Attacks causing 130 deaths and 413 injuries.

But also, in 2015, in addition to the attacks in the Paris region, others in Belgium, Denmark, Tunisia, Turkey, Indonesia ... in trains and planes, causing many victims.

There is some concern or even some fear in the populations that may seem understandable. But beyond this fear of terrorism, the individual often lives in anxiety : in the present state of the world, fear of his superior, fear of losing his job, But shall the Christian be afraid? The verse of the day answers this question: God gives his children the antidotes to the surrounding fear.

God gives a spirit of power: fear tends to paralyze those whom it seizes and to prevent them from acting, but God asks to live with his strength that gives joy and peace even in trials. After hearing God say to him, "My grace is enough for you, for my power is fulfilled in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12: 9), Paul can exclaim : "I can all things in him who strengthens me." Phil. 4. 13).

God gives us a spirit of love : He invites us to be loved by him, so that we can love others, for we can not love others without perceiving divine love. Love drives out fear ; The more we love our neighbor, the less we will be afraid of him. "There is no fear in love, but perfect love chases fear, for fear has torment ; And he that feareth is not fulfilled in love "(1 John 4:18).

God gives a spirit of sober common sense : a controlled, moderate mind allows us to grasp the divine will. Let us hear the voice of God, for it gives us discernment, and the intelligence provided gives us peace. "Be transformed by the renewal of your mind to discern what is good, acceptable and perfect will of God" (Rom 12: 2).

Let us realize what God gives us and thus, thanks to him, we will emerge victorious from the yoke of fear !
