In the psalms, David extols the greatness of God who blesses those who trust in Him.
"Oh ! how great is your goodness, that you hold in store for those who fear you, that you testify to those who seek refuge in you, at the sight of the sons of man ! You protect them under the shelter of your face against those who persecute them, you protect them in your tent against the tongues that attack them" (Psalms 31: 19-20).
When David exclaims : "Oh! How great is the goodness of God !" He says : "I am overwhelmed by all the goodness that God has in store." He celebrates the incredible provisions of grace and kindness that God has set aside for us. David testifies : "What shall I become if I do not have the assurance of seeing the love of the Lord in the land of the living ?" (Psalm 27:13 Sower version).
The goodness and rewards of God are not set aside for "a day" in heaven - they are for His people now, in their present trials.
God says He will reward our faith. And He wants us to seek him for these rewards now, in the middle of our trials. Are you looking for a sign of hope for a rebellious son or daughter ? Do you need to see a thinning in the clouds of your financial storm ? Cry to the Lord with faith, He will come to you with comfort and strength. He wants to reward you with renewed hope and to give you all the strength you need to overcome the great waters that you are going through. His voice rises above the great waters !
The Word of God makes it clear that we do not have to worry about world crises. We do not have to worry about the economy. He wants to remove all stress from our loved ones, our families, our wounds and our trials. And He gives us the reason for this great comfort and assurance : Our God is great and very worthy of praise !
