Victory over the temptation

Moreover, we are proud even of our distress, knowing that distress produces perseverance, perseverance produces victory in the test, and victory in the test the hope. But this hope does not deceive, because the love of God is poured into our heart by the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. Romans 5:3-5

God never promised to eliminate temptation from us because even Christ was subject to it. The Bible says that "He was tested in all things, like us, but without sin". There is no good reason for you to try to escape, because such periods of testing have beneficial effects. There is a sense of accomplishment and assurance that results from the victory over temptation that can not happen to us otherwise.

Temptation shows what people really are. It does not make us Christians or non-Christians. It strengthens the Christian and makes him discover resources of power. You can take advantage of what could be a tragedy if you only discover, even in this time of temptation, that Christ can become more real to you than ever and that his salvation will become more meaningful.

Prayer for the day

In all times of temptation, I remember your example, Lord Jesus.
