Wait on the Lord

Place your pride in his holy name ! May the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice ! Use the Lord and his strength, constantly seek his presence ! Psalm 105:3,4

Jerome, one of the early Christians, said : "Ignorance of the Bible means ignorance of Christ." Job once said : "I valued the words in his mouth more than my food was necessary." Jeremiah said : "Your words presented themselves to me and I devoured them. Your word provoked my joy, it made my heart happy." To read the Bible, you need "quiet time". Christian students often ask : "How do you maintain your spiritual high ? What do you do everyday ?" I tell them about my "calm time". Some days it's early, sometimes late in the morning, sometimes in the evening. Without it, my Christian life would be a desert. Isaiah said : "But those who count on the Lord renew their strength. They take flight like eagles. They run without exhaustion, they walk without getting tired" (Isaiah 40:31). So gain the strength of the eagles, as the prophet suggested. Set a time each day when you can spend a few minutes alone with God.

Prayer for the day

Lord, teach us to wait for you so that we know your strength.
