"If we walk in the light, [...] the blood of Jesus [...] cleanses us from all sin." 1 John 1.7
Twice in the Bible, God speaks to us in the dark.
In the first chapter of Genesis he says : "Let there be lights." Genesis 1.14
In John, Jesus declares : "The light has come into the world." John 3:19
To walk with God, avoid dark paths and walk in the light. Molds grow better in the dark. When you turn on the light, they fade and die. More than a metaphor, it is a spiritual reality !
Jesus said : "Men loved darkness more than light, because their works were evil." John 3:19
To walk with God, avoid dark paths and walk in the light.
As Ester Nicholson says : "Secrets affect us, they keep us in shame and doubt." The secret is the ideal environment for sin to grow until you become captive of your thoughts, your actions, and your bad inclinations. The more you stay in the dark, the more you become a slave to sin.
"If we say that we are in communion with him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth." 1 John 1.6
Enter the light and everything changes ! Then confess your hidden vices to God, and if necessary, to a trusted friend or counselor who can pray with you. Then invoke the power of God to overcome this sin. As soon as you turn on the light, the molds fade. They relax their embrace and freedom appears.
An action for today
Whenever a sin hits your door, put it right away in the light. If you do, God will cleanse you. The Bible says : "If we walk in the light, [...] the blood of Jesus [...] cleanses us from all sin." 1 John 1.7
