We are all construction sites !
“We are now children of God, and what we will someday be has not yet been revealed.” 1 John 3.2
Comparing yourself to others is the sure-fire recipe for becoming discouraged ! The Bible tells us : “Do not compare yourselves” (Galatians 6.4), because either we will have the impression that others are doing better than us, which will depress us, or we will think we are doing better than them, which will risk making us proud. “Concentrate your efforts on doing your best” (2 Timothy 2:15). In this way, “you will feel satisfied when you have completed your task and you will not need to compare yourself to others” (Galatians 6.44 TP). Apples don't all ripen on the tree on the same day. Paul said that it takes time to gain knowledge and understanding (Philippians 1: 9-10). A best-selling author once said : “When I first started writing, I found myself confronted with my desire to become a writer ! “I want to be recognized as a writer,” I thought over and over, “but for that I have to manage to publish a certain number of books, and collect a certain number of good literary reviews.” You will probably need a number of years and a number of successes in one area or another before you can finally say : "I have become what God intended for me." But do not wait until that far day to convince yourself that you are going to become what you have decided to become, in accordance with His will... Certainly, you still have a lot to learn. You are not yet an expert on the subject, it is true, but to say, for example, "I am... a writer" (or anything else !), You do not have to wait. to be recognized by all as such.” John wrote : “Today we are children of God and what we will be has not yet been made manifest”. God uses twisted sticks to draw straight lines and imperfect people to accomplish His perfect will. So go ahead, don't be too harsh on yourself, and never forget this : you are still a construction site !
