I, the Lord, will hold your hand firmly. Isaiah 42.6
We hold hands !
Marcel and Berthe celebrated their garnet wedding anniversary ! (See on the Internet) What is their secret of a love that has lasted for... 82 years ? Berthe replies : “We always hold hands like kids !" How beautiful !
For my wife and I, we have been together for 47 years. Always hand in hand ? Oh no, but, through the love of Christ, we always end up reaching out to each other a hand of forgiveness and new togetherness. Otherwise, our wedding in cashmere would rather be a wedding in... cashmere !
“Walking hand in hand”, what does it mean to us ?
– This means first of all that the other is and will remain the closest life companion of each of the two !
– This means that we have resolutely chosen to move forward in the same direction, that of Jesus.
– This implies that we walk at the same pace, at the same pace, waiting for each other, and encouraging each other.
We also know that, more and more, one will have to lean on the other, and then perhaps let himself be led by the hand. And one day, we will have to resolve to let go of the beloved hand, and let the other go before us to our Lord !
How hard it will be! Four dear friends have been through this recently. They are the ones who encourage us, showing us how the strong hand of the heavenly Father holds them firmly in their suffering !
